Metal Or Wood Banana Hangers?

July 5, 2011 by kengross37 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Banana hangers are a simple and extremely functional accessory for the kitchen. As such, they are gaining in popularity. However, when looking to buy one of these stylish pieces, there are a couple of considerations to take in order to ensure that you opt for the right type for your specific space.

The biggest decision comes in choosing the material of your banana hanger. Historically, these pieces were extremely popular in plastic. However, due in part to the popularity of modern design, metallic and wood material has quickly overwhelmed the once dominant plastic market. Aside from that fact, plastic was quickly realized as a less than adequate material for these accessories due to the fact they did not last long under the weight of a banana bunch; after a month the plastic would begin to warp and bend under the strain of holding the bananas.

So, which is the best option, metal or wood?

If you are out to save some money, but wish for the functionality of a Banana Hanger, then wood is the best option. This is due to the fact that generally, wood is less expensive the metallic accessories. Secondly, most wood banana hangers are manufactured using the generic platform based design. This design is proven to be functional. As a result, wood hangers offer the functionality and are inexpensive for those looking for a quick solution to counter top bruised bananas.

On the other hand, for those looking to dish out a little more money, and are just as concerned if not more concerned about style than functionality, the metal banana hangers are probably the best option. Most manufacturers looking to in corporate sleek and modern details into these accessories tend to do so with the metal units over the wooden units. This is mainly due to the fact that the metal is easier to manipulate and offers a wide array of options to get creative with. Metal designs often last longer than wood designs as well. However, as mentioned earlier, metallic units will cost more.
